III.13 What are the prerequisites for becoming a public prosecutor?
A person may be admitted to service at the prosecutor’s office and
appointed to the post of the prosecutor provided that he is a national of Lithuania,
is of high moral character, has a good command of the Lithuanian language, has
a university degree in law, and a MA in law degree or a professional lawyer’s
qualification degree or a Doctor or Habilitation Doctor in Social Sciences
(Law) degree, has passed an examination for candidates and has the
recommendation of the Selection Commission (sect. 25 Law on the Prosecutor’s
Office).
