II.15 Can the executive influence the prosecution service through its budget?
The executive power has a small influence on the
formation of the budget of the prosecutor’s office because the Ministry of
Finance that is responsible for the national budget must forward the
application of the Office of the Prosecutor to the Cabinet of Ministers without
any changes. The Cabinet of Ministers submits the draft of the budget to the
Saeima for approval.
